How does Tapatize work?
One person starts a session and shares the QR code or link. Everyone else joins — no account needed. Each person privately types in a food idea. When everyone’s in, the organizer taps Choose, and one idea is picked at random and revealed to the whole group. Tap, type, submit.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Tapatize doesn't use logins, passwords, emails, or profiles. You join a session and go. That's a core part of the design.
How do people join my session?
Share the QR code for people in the room, or tap Copy Join Linkto send the link to anyone — including friends who aren’t with you. Remote groups, long-distance couples, and hybrid teams can all decide together with the same link.
Is it really anonymous?
Yes. Submissions are shown without any name attached, and the app doesn't know who typed what. Nobody — including the organizer — can see who suggested a given idea.
Can I suggest anything, or only restaurants?
Anything. Tapatize isn't tied to a restaurant database. Type a specific spot, a cuisine, "leftovers," or "surprise me." If you can type it, you can submit it.
How is the winner chosen?
At random from all submitted ideas. Everyone has an equal shot, so the loudest person in the group doesn't get to steer the outcome.
What happens to my data after a session?
Sessions are anonymous — we never attach a name, email, or account to them. Automatic deletion of session data isn’t live yet, so records may stick around on our servers longer than you’d expect, but they’re never linked to who you are or used for anything beyond running that one session. How many people can join a session?
Tapatize works for small groups — from a couple deciding on dinner up through a larger friend group or office lunch crew. The organizer sets the expected group size when starting.
Someone submitted something inappropriate. What can I do?
Submissions are free text typed by participants in your session. Because sessions are anonymous and short-lived, the simplest fix is to end the session and start a new one with people you trust. If you have a broader concern, email support@tapatize.com.
The app isn't syncing or a join link won't work.
Make sure everyone has a live internet connection, then have the person rejoin with a fresh link or QR code. If a session has expired, start a new one. Still stuck? Email us your device and OS version and we'll dig in.
Is Tapatize free?
Yes — Tapatize is free to use for making group food decisions. If that changes, we'll say so clearly in the app.
